Promoting Healthy Sexuality Across the Lifespan!

The Nova Scotia Association for Sexual Health (NSASH) is dedicated to promoting healthy sexuality throughout the life span, in an environment that respects and supports choice.  NSASH is the representative body of the autonomous affiliates of the Canadian Federation for Sexual Health who are located in Nova Scotia. 

Six of these centres provide information, education, resources, referrals, condoms, and pregnancy testing:  Sexual Health Centre Lunenburg County (Bridgewater), Sheet Harbour Sexual Health Centre (Sheet Harbour), Pictou County Centre for Sexual Health (New Glasgow), Sexual Health Centre for Cumberland County (Amherst), Cape Breton Centre for Sexual Health (Sydney), and Yarmouth County Centre for Sexual Health (Yarmouth). The seventh member is the Halifax Sexual Health Centre (Halifax) which, in addition to the above services, is the only member that has a clinic and can provide medical services such as birth control prescriptions, Pap tests, STI testing, and anonymous HIV testing.

*please note* Sheet Harbour also offers clinical services by appointment once a month. They offer PAP tests, STI testing, birth control prescriptions, and prostate tests.  This service is given by a Nurse Practitioner and available through Sheet Harbour Sexual Health Centre.

The objectives of the NSASH are to:

  • support development  of knowledge and behaviours to achieve healthy sexuality
  • share information and resources about sexual and reproductive health
  • provide services that will promote healthy sexuality
  • develop and implement initiatives that foster healthy sexuality in NS
  • participate in community initiatives that foster healthy sexuality in NS
  • enhance the ability of NSASH affiliates to meet their goals and objectives
  • encourage and support the growth and visibility of NSASH
NSASH members strive to offer service to individuals in Nova Scotia from all age groups, all genders, all socioeconomic backgrounds, all races and ethnicities, living in our catchment areas.  A limited number of French materials are available.  

NSASH receives funding from the Department of Health and Wellness and private donations.
