Postponing Sexual Involvement Program, "Worth Waiting"
Sexual Health Centre for Cumberland County (SHCCC)In 2006 this program won SHCCC a  Helen and Fred Bentley Award for Excellence of Achievement (an annual award program of  the Canadian Federation for Sexual Health).
Worth Waiting is a pre-teen program to create awareness about pressures to have sex, to provide skills for healthy decision-making, and to encourage participants to postpone sexual involvement.  In order to delay sexual intercourse, it is crucial that we reach youth before they engage in sexual activity. Delaying onset of sexual activity allows young people more time to acquire skills needed to deal effectively with this aspect of their lives.  Healthy sexual relationships require emotional, cognitive, and physical maturity.
SHCCC has been offering Worth Waiting to Grade six students in Cumberland County, Nova Scotia since 1995.  It is usually offered through six, one-hour sessions.
Manuals $50.00 plus shipping and handling.
